Gagan has been associated with Future Skills since early 2007. As part of the senior leadership team, Gagan played a key role in managing and growing the institution over the last 13 years, with Category I status awarded by New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
In his current role as Deputy CEO at Otago Polytechnic Auckland International Campus, Gagan is responsible for driving business growth and monetising new opportunities by deploying cutting edge technology and marketing tools. Gagan is also currently leading a number of strategic projects including the development of an online portfolio platform, www.iamcapable.co.nz, for learner capability development and enhanced employability of graduates.
As the founder member of Auckland International Campus in 2012 , the international education arm of Future Skills established in partnership with Otago Polytechnic, Gagan was in charge of setting up the initial team and growing the business. The organisation witnessed exponential growth over the six year period since inception.
Prior to joining Future Skills, Gagan pursued his entrepreneurial journey as the Founder Director of a logistics company providing warehouse management solutions in India before which he had been involved in setting up and growing new business models with Aviva Life Insurance and Times Internet in India.
Before joining the Learning & Teaching Development team at Otago Polytechnic in 2018, I enjoyed a varied international career as a teacher, teacher trainer and facilitator for institutions such as the European Commission, LUISS University, British Council and National Public Administration School (SNA) in Rome and London Metropolitan University and Central St Martins (University of the Arts) in London.
I graduated from Auckland University in 1990 with an LLB (Hons) and BA in English Literature and many years later combined my love of law and language with an MSc in Forensic Linguistics from Aston University, Birmingham. In my salad days I worked as a freelance dancer and choreographer in New Zealand and the U.K. and studied at the London branch of the Lee Strasberg School. I have been very fortunate to have had so many diverse experiences in my life, and teaching has provided a wonderful coat hanger to carry them on.
I joined the OP Learning and Teaching development team in September 2015. Prior to this I was a facilitator at Aoraki Polytechnic and was part of a team responsible for undertaking quality assurance.
I love the diversity this role provides. Each day there are challenges and each day there are rewards. This role utilizes my experience in experiential and authentic learning models and provides opportunities to employ current assessment methodologies that mimic real-life experience.
Outside of work my husband and I are kept busy with our lifestyle block and our three spoilt (pretend farm dog) pooches.

Sonny graduated from Otago Polytechnic Dunedin in 2008 with a Bachelor of Information Technology. He started working full-time in the Information Systems and Services Department following his graduation, then had a short spell away from Otago Polytechnic when he moved home to Auckland. Sonny eventually returned to Otago Polytechnic as Service Desk Engineer at the Auckland International Campus in March 2013. He's now the ICT and Facilities Manager here.
I have ten years of professional experience as a writer and communicator. My responsibilities at OPAIC include writing profiles, covering news and events, producing digital newsletters, managing our website and social media platforms, and developing print resources.
I've been part of the Otago Polytechnic team since the beginning of 2018. Prior to that, I worked for daily newspapers throughout the country. I specialised as a court and police reporter for much of my journalism career.
I have bachelor's degrees in arts and science, a diploma in journalism, and a master's degree in creative writing. I've completed shorter courses in photography, videography, social media, mental health first aid, research ethics, bicultural competency, and graphic design.
My fiction and poetry have featured in literary journals in New Zealand and overseas and I've placed in a number of writing competitions. In 2020, I published my first book - I kind of thought the alpacas were a metaphor until we got there.
