Jennifer Antonio

Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management

Philippines

Filipino student Jennifer Antonio has been impressed by the combination of theoretical learning and practical experience offered at Otago Polytechnic’s Auckland International Campus.

New Zealand’s easy way of living and its “spectacular views” enticed her to come here last December.

She says she and her husband did some research before settling on OPAIC.

“It was just amazing that they are offering courses relevant to the need of the market.”

She was also impressed by OPAIC’s teaching strategies and the support management gave to students. On top of that, she says OPAIC is more affordable than other schools.

Jennifer’s halfway through a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management and says it’s going well.

She’s recently received an award for excelling in her study in her first term.

The teachers at OPAIC are exceptional, according to Jennifer. She says many have PhDs and they know how to prepare students for the workforce.

She says courses offer a combination of practical experience and theory.

Jennifer worked in nursing and management in Saudi Arabia before coming to New Zealand. She says she now understands management better as she’s been able to link her study to her work experience.

She hopes to settle down in New Zealand in the future. She’ll try to find a job at the managerial level once she graduates, and will be happy if it’s in healthcare.

Outside of work and study, Jennifer enjoys visiting new places in New Zealand and particularly likes the beaches here.

“I was amazed with the view, how they take care of the environment.”
