Our students took a significant step towards building their careers by attending the Migrants in Tech Auckland Meet-Up last week. It was a chance to put their networking skills into action and connect with industry professionals.
Before the event, students participated in a networking workshop, where they learnt how to confidently approach conversations, make meaningful connections, and navigate the hidden job market. The Meet-Up then became their practice ground, allowing them to apply these strategies in real-world interactions with tech founders and professionals.
At the event, students had the opportunity to meet a diverse group of industry professionals, including startup founders, recruiters, software developers, and AI innovators. These conversations provided insights into breaking into tech, entrepreneurship, and industry trends, giving students a clearer understanding of potential career paths and the skills needed to succeed.
For many students, this was their first experience networking in the tech industry. It was an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and start forming professional relationships that could shape their future careers. Conversations were filled with insights, advice, and encouragement, reinforcing the importance of networking as a key tool for success in the job market.
The event gave students a chance to actively build their networks, learn from experienced professionals, and gain the confidence to navigate the industry.
