Juhyun (Julia) Lee was a little apprehensive at first about enrolling to study English online, but now she’s extremely glad she did.

Juhyun is studying a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 5) online from her home country of South Korea while working as a Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor.

She says it was her dream to study at a school in New Zealand and her passion for learning inspired her to enrol to study academic English with OPAIC.

While researching courses and institutes, she found out OPAIC had just started delivering online English programmes. She contacted the polytechnic and found it was extremely well-organised with well-designed programs. This encouraged her to begin her study with OPAIC.

Initially, she was skeptical about studying English online, however, she is now extremely satisfied and confident with her English linguistic skills.

She says online classes have been well-organised and she appreciates the constant guidance and encouragement she’s received from English Coordinator & Learning Support Advisor Cheryl Watson and her team.

Juhyun is also taking part in online social opportunities through OPAIC - placing second in our recent quiz night. She says online events like these help her gain knowledge and network with others. She looks forward to many more.

Juhyun says she previously had an amazing experience working as a Physiotherapy Assistant in a care home and as a Pilates Instructor in a studio during a working holiday to New Zealand.

It was a great learning experience, and she is still connected with her clients.

“I learned lots and I made good memories with my clients in New Zealand,” she says.

She dreams about returning to New Zealand for higher education and work and is eagerly waiting for borders to open.

Juhyun says the working environment in New Zealand is healthy and nature is admirable.
