Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management
Brazil
Fernanda Maria Rodrigues Neiva was drawn to Otago Polytechnic’s Auckland International Campus for professional and personal reasons.
The Brazilian student says she wanted to increase her technical knowledge and expand her professional range. She also liked the quality of life New Zealand had to offer.
“Here I raise my daughter in a healthy environment. I believe that the education level, low rates of corruption and great views are good reasons for this choice.”
Fernanda says much of her free time is dedicated to her husband and her three-year-old daughter. She also loves running.
Fernanda studied a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management at OPAIC. The course includes subjects such as Capabilities for Managers, Project Management, Financial Decision Making, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Management of Information Systems.
She says one of the best things about studying at OPAIC was learning from highly qualified teachers with excellent theoretical and professional knowledge.
The institution respects students and their cultural differences, and takes their learning seriously, she says.
Prior to coming to OPAIC, Fernanda completed a bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering. She worked in large companies focused on quality assurance and improvement of internal processes in Brazil for more than 10 years.
In the future she plans to pursue a career in the area of production engineering or in the management of a business in New Zealand.
Fernanda had some words of advice for other South American students thinking of enrolling at OPAIC:
“Do it. Be open to living with different cultures, study hard and seriously to achieve your goals.”
“I will always recommend OPAIC to friends and acquaintances.”
