Yupitha Ignatia

Master of Applied Management

Indonesia

Yupitha Ignatia returned to study for her Master of Applied Management after a decade in the workforce. She credits her positive experience to the guidance of knowledgeable lecturers, the support of her friends and classmates, and her willingness to seek help when needed.

Yupitha says the best thing about studying at OPAIC was learning from highly qualified lecturers with extensive real-world experience in their fields. She also valued the diversity within her cohort, which deepened her learning journey and broadened her perspective.

“I’ve met a lot of fellow students from various backgrounds. This really enriches my point of view,” she says.

Yupitha worked at a telecommunications and infrastructure company in Jakarta, Indonesia for around 10 years before making the move to New Zealand to pursue her postgraduate studies. Her last position was as an Account Manager for the top mobile network operators in Indonesia.

She says returning to study after more than a decade had its challenges, particularly in balancing her time between family, work, and academic commitments. However, lecturers and friends were there to help.

“Luckily, I met with lots of kind people during my student journey. I communicated my problems with my support system, lecturers, and close friends. You never know, help can come from anywhere.”

Yupitha has just completed her study and hopes she will soon be able to contribute positively to New Zealand's job market and help build the local economy with the knowledge and skills she’s gained during her time at OPAIC.

Her advice to anyone else considering international study in New Zealand is to be courageous.

“Don't be afraid to grab the opportunities. I know moving abroad seems like a huge leap of faith. But you never know until you try. And if in the meantime you need help, do not hesitate to reach out and ask.”
