Maria Linda Laderas, or Linda to her friends, is a Pharmacovigilance Manager for a multinational pharmaceutical company.

Linda is one of our online students based in the province of Laguna in the Philippines, which is south of the capital city, Manila, and is popular for its beautiful lakes and mountains.

Her journey into her profession started when she decided to study pharmacy at university to complement her sister who was studying chemistry. She thought it would be a good combination in case they decided to go into business together, she says.

Linda says she decided to study the Master of Applied Management at OPAIC because the program offers a wide range of skills that will give her an edge if she decides to explore career opportunities outside of the drug safety field.

"My experience in the online program has been very positive. My professors not only share their professional knowledge but also impart personal experiences."

Having classmates from different nationalities makes the online discussions exciting and seeing how management is applied in other parts of the world makes her open to new ideas, she says.

She looks forward to coming to New Zealand and studying onshore soon so she can tour the campus and catch up in person with classmates she now considers her friends.

Linda is an avid traveler having visited places including Rome, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo.  She uses the experience she gains from visiting these places to enhance her cooking skills at home.

She says she also enjoys doing hikes and looks forward to exploring the many offerings of New Zealand. She’s put the Milford Sound trek on her bucket list.
