Expert shares insights into Change Management
Our Applied Management students had the privilege of hearing about Change Management from an industry expert this week.
Dinesh Sundararaj is a Change Management Consultant at Kambium. He is a certified change practitioner and has led several transformational projects and continuous improvement initiatives. He specialises in communications and training design and delivery.
Dinesh was on campus this Tuesday speaking to our students about Managing Organisational Transformation and Change. Topics he covered included:
- Drivers and types of change: We examined technology-driven changes, with examples from client projects, to help students see the relevance of change management in today’s workplaces.
- Change models and adaptive approaches: While there are many change models to choose from, Dinesh emphasised the importance of adaptability, focusing on how both mindset and approach are key.
- Roles in Change Management: From executive sponsors to frontline managers, students learned about roles at strategic, operational, and implementation levels and how these contribute to successful change.
- Managing resistance: One of the biggest challenges in any change initiative is resistance. Dinesh reviewed techniques to build trust and gain buy-in, showing students how to tackle this common hurdle.
He also talked about the importance of understanding workplace dynamics, communicating change, and being an advocate for the people who are going to adopt and use the new systems.
Dinesh says our students are future leaders, who will be entering workplaces where change is constant. He says equipping them with practical approaches to manage and embrace this change is more important than ever.
We would like to thank Dinesh for generously sharing his time and expertise with our students, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with him and welcoming him back in the future.
