Alumni mentor students at coffee connect event
We brought together 12 alumni mentors who have successfully established their careers and 17 new Auckland International Campus students at an event on the weekend.
The Alumni x Student Industry Coffee Connect event held at AIC on Saturday allowed alumni and students to connect over coffee and lunch.
Alumni shared their journeys from study to employment, along with practical advice on navigating academic life and building a pathway into industry.
The event sparked meaningful conversations, valuable connections, and created a supportive space for students to engage with those who have already walked a similar path.
One attendee reflected on their key learnings, including:
- Professional development: Building a strong profile and creating meaningful professional connections.
- Mindset and resilience: Staying positive and not giving up.
- Academic success: Applying critical thinking and making assignments more engaging and impactful.
Overall, it was a highly successful, engaging, and intentional event that strengthened connections between alumni and current students. It not only provided insight and inspiration, but also reinforced the value of community, mentorship, and proactive career development early in the student journey.
