AIC Employability Specialist to share practice on world stage

Auckland International Campus Employability Specialist Nicki Trueman has been selected to present at a major international conference.

Nicki will present at the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG) conference, which brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and educators to explore innovative approaches to educational, vocational, and career guidance.

The conference, themed Navigating the Future, will be held at the New Zealand International Convention Centre in Auckland from 25 to 27 November.

Nicki’s presentation is titled From Global Talent to Local Opportunity: Strengthening Employability Outcomes for International Students in Aotearoa New Zealand. It will showcase AIC’s Placement Ready Programme (PRP) and its approach to embedding career development throughout the learner journey.

The PRP was designed to ensure learners are systematically prepared, assessed, and supported as they progress towards industry placements, with a focus on developing graduate-level competencies aligned with employer expectations.

The programme includes workshops, placement preparation, evaluation, placement matching, and ongoing support to ensure students meet professional and academic standards before entering placements. Learners also undertake training in professional communication, interview readiness, and workplace expectations while aligning placement goals with their academic outcomes.

As a careers professional, Nicki is committed to a people-centred approach that helps learners navigate career pathways and build the skills needed for future success. She is passionate about empowering students to develop confidence, particularly during periods of challenge or transition.

Nicki values collaboration, continuous learning, and reflective practice, and is dedicated to improving employability outcomes through inclusive, student-focused approaches. Through tailored guidance, practical skill development, and meaningful industry engagement, she supports students to transition confidently into the workforce.
