Sangya Sapkota

Sangya’s educational journey has taken her across several disciplines. She studied Science in high school, completed a Bachelor of Business Studies, and holds a Diploma in Accounting and Business from ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK). She is currently completing her Master of Applied Management, specialising in Business Information Systems, at AIC.

Sangya’s professional background spans business management, marketing, media and communications, with experience in several managerial roles before moving to New Zealand. Alongside her professional work, digital content and audience engagement have always been her creative happy place where she gets to combine creativity, communication and strategic thinking. She’s worked as a radio presenter and as an emcee for different formal and informal events for several years.

During her Master’s journey, Sangya has explored a range of business and information systems topics across New Zealand’s public sector, logistics, and telecommunications industries. Her current Professional Project focuses on how AI disclosure in social media advertising influences consumer trust, brand perception, and purchase intention within New Zealand’s telecommunications industry. Her interests increasingly sit at the intersection of marketing, digital technology, and consumer behaviour.

Having walked the student journey at AIC herself, she understands how exciting, challenging, and sometimes overwhelming it can feel to start somewhere new, especially when you are building a life away from home. Her goal is to give back to the community that has given her so much and to support learners in every way she can. Helping them feel informed, connected, confident, and, most importantly, that they belong.

Through her work as a podcast host and content creator, she particularly enjoys bringing forward stories, experiences, and practical information that can give learners hope and help them navigate their journey. She tries to create and be a part of the kind of content she would have found helpful when she was a new learner herself; storytelling that fills information gaps, introduces people and opportunities, and makes the AIC community feel a little more familiar even before someone steps through the door.

Whether online or offline, being able to play even a small part in helping learners feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the people and community around them is something she finds deeply fulfilling in so many ways.

Outside of work and study, Sangya enjoys road trips, sunsets, running, and finding a little quiet time to recharge.

She believes learning is a never-ending process, and it can happen in so many forms. Some of the most meaningful lessons come through people, conversations, experiences, and simply staying curious. She loves connecting with people from different backgrounds, hearing their stories, and finding creative ways to turn what she learns into something that might help someone else.
