Barry Quinico
Since graduating in Construction, Barry has held roles in quality assurance and quantity surveying with a subcontracting company specialising in intumescent painting. He’s also worked as a Teaching Assistant supporting students in technical aspects of quantity surveying and construction.
He’s interested in sharing practical, industry-aligned knowledge in quantity surveying and construction fundamentals. He is particularly interested in clear, accessible ways to teach measurement, estimation, and core technical skills to new learners.
His goal is to help every learner build strong, confident foundational skills, so they can understand technical concepts clearly, apply them accurately, and feel fully prepared for future studies or work in construction and quantity surveying.
Barry is here to assist learners with any technical questions, practical tasks, or clarifications required. No question is too small. He also enjoys following industry updates in construction and quantity surveying to keep his knowledge current.
Outside of his work supporting learners, he helps manage his small family business, which has taught him practical organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills that he also brings to his role as a Teaching Assistant.
He has nearly 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry as a Chef, including five years owning and operating his own restaurant here in New Zealand.
