Online Applied Management student Mahyar Bahrami hopes to one day run his own international extreme sports business in Iran.

Mahyar has worked as a human resource manager at private companies for the past 10 years. He says leadership runs in his veins. He loves managing, especially in critical situations.  

Outside of work and study, Mahyar plays paintball for Iran’s national team. He was Asia champion in 2016 and had his own team in a division one league for about five years.

Mahyar is also into personal training, bodybuilding, CrossFit, and off-roading.

“I love extreme sport and I’m always looking for a new adventure!”

His big goal is to start an international extreme sports company in Iran. Mahyar says great companies always have great managers and that’s why he’s pursuing a Master of Applied Management.

“That's why I need to learn and become a great manager to handle the company.”

Mahyar considered a number of countries before settling on New Zealand and OPAIC for his studies.

He says OPAIC was the best fit for his personality and his requirements. He has now completed two study blocks online with us.

“This is my first time studying online and it is very awesome! I can handle my work and learn a lot. Otago's Moodle is very simple and nice and scheduling is awesome so far.”
